Background:
Carver Greely was born in Cambridge, England to his parents James and Claire Greely. Both of his parents were established psychiatrists, and had opened a clinic together. Carver was pushed by his parents to do the best that he could do in school so he could get into a college and become a psychiatrist like his parents. Carver turned out to be a very smart boy, and excelled in his early years of education. He was accepted into the University of Cambridge in the city that he was born in. He obediently chose the path of a psychiatrist, and excelled in that as well. However, after a while Carver realized that he had a hard time dealing with people one on one, and he began to dislike the idea of becoming a psychiatrist. Carver still had a passion for psychology, and he wanted to make a big impact on the world of psychology. When he brought this matter up to his parents they disagreed with his ideas and forced him to go along with his chosen study. Carver did as he was told and went through eight years of schooling to become a psychiatrist. During these eight years, Carver secretly practiced psychology experiments. He started just by mimicking psychology experiments that he had learned of in his education, but then grew to larger experiments. He started experimenting with animals, discovering their behavior patterns. Carver became very good at his secret hobby. It was around that time that psychiatric drugs were becoming popular and Carver got interested in that. He took a few chemistry and biology classes, and started testing his animals with drugs that he had made with chemicals that he stole from his university.
Shortly after Carver attained his doctorate and certification in psychiatry, his mother died of a heart attack. His father was stricken with grief, and soon the clinic that the Greelys owned went out of business. Six months later Carver’s father died of a stroke. Carver had a hard time dealing with all this, and instead of attempting to restart the clinic, he preoccupied his mind by doing experiments. He soon started attempting to experiment on the homeless people in the city of Cambridge, he offered them food and shelter if they would do some tests for him, or take some drugs for him and let him observe them for the night. The police eventually discovered what Carver was doing and he was arrested and jailed for ten years for inhumane treatment. After Carver got out of jail, he realized that he would never get a job in England as a psychiatrist, so he packed up and headed to the United States. Each job that he applied for, he was turned down because of his criminal record in England. He finally ended up in New Haven, Connecticut were he applied for a job at Cherry Hollow.


Personality:

Dr. Carver Greely is a very strange man. He is very reclusive and tends to not to socialize, the only time that he will socialize is while discussing an academic topic. He is also a very intelligent man, he was well educated, and speaks with a polite English accent. He is very passionate about his experiments; he really wants to make an impact on the world through his researching. He won’t let ethics stand in the way of completing in an experiment, he believes that the suffering of few will benefit many.
